Week Off

Good morning everyone! You may have noticed (though I sincerely doubt it) that I took the last week off with no blog posts whatsoever. Part of that was I completed my posting of my writing experiment Queen City by Night: A Place to Belong and took some time to plan a bit more with the werewolf equivalent project, and part of it was that I was starting a new job.

I am back in education, and while it wasn’t where I wanted to be, I’m actually finding myself enjoying it. It was a lot of work and effort, especially trying to get myself back into the swing of prepping daily, learning a new class to teach, and finding my old teaching persona to put back on. With all of these efforts and struggles, I didn’t have time to organize and prep the posts for the week. Sorry about that, but enough apologies! Let’s look at what’s going to be happening in the future. 

With the new job I both have more and less time to do writing, amazingly. I will be spending more time in front of a computer than when I was working at my other job, but I’ll be focused on grading, prepping, and planning. However, I have found that taking fifteen minutes a day, especially while waiting for buses, parents, and other teachers to leave the parking lot at the end of the day, is a great time to get a little writing done. It’s helpful to unwind and get myself clear for the rest of my day. That being said, I spent a little time doing that this week as I returned to a profession that forces me to read and analyze text as I love to do. 

Something I’ve not posted much about, if at all, was that in my younger years I loved to write poetry. I wrote a lot of it in high school, even joined the creative writing club because of it, but really found my passion writing in iambic tetrameter in college when studying 18th century British poetry. Because of that, there may be more of that coming in the future. Wednesday’s post this week will have a poem I just completed as well as a little blurb about it. 

As mentioned in the past, Nicole, our dear Morgan from the books, also wrote a vampire story alongside mine. In fact, they’re in a shared universe, and she’s willing to share that universe with you! Starting next Monday, I’ll begin posting her chapters just like how I did with my own, and then follow them up with her reflections. I’ve yet to decide if I want to post the chapters Monday and the reflections Friday as I did with mine, or post them all together and leave Friday open for another potential blog, but we’ll cross that bridge as we come to it. 

All this being said, there are a lot of new things coming your way, and a lot of new projects that have opened themselves up to me. On top of all that, my goal is to have the next book, Borrowing from Tomorrow, ready for publication early 2027. So again, sorry about the week off, but believe me, it was time well spent.
