Day 5: Show me your Fangs
I consider myself to be a nice person. As Veronica says in Heathers the Musical “I believe I’m a good person. I believe there’s good in everyone”. It feels a little conceited to say, but many patients that I have the pleasure of interfacing with tell me that I’m very sweet and patient, kind even when others would be losing their proverbial shit.
But there are times where I’m just screaming internally even as I keep a smile on my face. When I want to rage and throw something at a wall. Or smack someone upside the head. Like when I have to call an insurance company three times and waste hours to get nowhere towards a resolution. That’s not societally acceptable though.
What if then you were able to lose a little bit of your temper at someone who deserved it with no repercussions? Now I am not saying that it’s a good idea, but sometimes you have that person in your life that you just need to have a little bit of fictional therapy.
Maybe you throw that asshole of a relative at your players as a villain and watch them tear him apart.
Maybe you put that coworker who made you seethe at a point in time in a moment where you can get some catharsis.
This being said, I do actually really like my coworkers despite any frustration that may come across in some of the characters I make. Also of note they are not one to one with their inspiration for legal matters. Plus I doubt but cannot always guarantee they won’t find their way here especially since some of them have had their first taste of blood Dungeons and Dragons this past weekend.
But what would it be like to clap back, bare your fangs and maybe, just maybe put someone in their place instead of just being nice or pleasant?
Cassandra got to experience it (and get a little guidance from Gandalf) that you can do that but make sure there's no lasting harm. At least, not yet. They're still very much in a kine run occupation and need to behave as such.
But sometimes, it's not a bad thing to show your fangs.
Just a little bit.
