A (Spoiler Free) Long Term Plan for the Series and Beyond…

When I started this journey back in 2018, I had a general plan in mind, as well as several other book series pattering around in my head. I began writing the Displaced home game, building factions, some I knew would never see the light of day, outlining NPCs that would end up rewriting more than once, and working behind the scenes to build the PCs with my friends so I could tweak my world to address not only their personal backstories, but also work with each other and feed off of each other. It was a lot of work, but by mid-2019 I began to see it all taking root, and the books began to bloom before my eyes.

I’d worked on something I’d called the Hellion Trilogy starting my senior year of High School, a daydream I began putting to paper that mirrored Hellboy more than it should considering I’d neither watched nor read anything Hellboy related for years after I’d finished the second book in that trilogy and subsequently given up on the third. There is a possibility I’ll go back and finish book three at some point, though I may need to rewrite books one and two as my writing style has changed substantially in the twenty years its been since I first began developing those stories.

When working on the podcast, Champions of Solain, an ambitious undertaking inspired by Godsfall and Dragonlance I eluded to heroes who had come before my current world’s champions, and wanted to tell their story. Where my personal writing style is nowhere near as intricate as the great Weiss and Hickman, I tried my hand at writing a trilogy of those heroes, aptly named the Heroes of Solain, and much like the Hellion Trilogy, the first two books are complete, but the third is still on the back burner.

Anyone following along with my weekly blogs, which if you’re not I’m confused as to how you found yourself reading this one, I’ve been posting chapters of a novel I wrote during World of Darkness’ Month of Darkness, but can’t publish due to copyright issues. Since I can’t publish it, I’m posting it as ‘fan fiction,’ and plan to keep writing this series each year in the hopes of using it like a whetstone for my skills as a writer. Plus, it's a really fun world to write in. In fact, I’ve even been toying with writing another book using the same prompts, but in the world of Werewolf: the Apocalypse. (I just need to gain a stronger understanding of the lore of that world, where I know my personal interpretation can have lore changes, I do want to do the world I’m setting the story in justice).

As it stands currently, I have enough ISBNs to publish three more books before having to purchase more. My plan is to keep releasing Displaced books each year, and once I get into a good rhythm with their release, marketing, and distribution, turn my attention to some of the stories listed above, as well as projects I’ve not even touched on here. (Examples: Novelizing Champions of Solain and continuing the story based on my notes and my friend’s suggestions? Hell’s Assassin Action Rom Com my ex inspired nearly fifteen years ago? A dip into sci-fi that has been knocking about in the back of my head?)

While those are on my back burner, you can be sure that I will begin working on the publishing needs of book three, Borrowing from Tomorrow in the coming months, and I will continue my work on the novel I’d been working on, but had to take a step back from as life began getting in the way.
